My Singapore Escapade 2017

20 May 2017 || 6:23 PM

I was alone most of the time during my 4-day stay in Singapore. My sister was there for work that's why I had to create an itinerary for a "loner". 😂 Her very own loner escapade will start after I go. Haha! Well, I didn't expect it to be this enjoyable!

Enough of the introduction. For this escapade to be a reality, I bought 2-way trip tickets to Singapore at a discounted price of PHP4,833.42 last January 31, 2017. I also bought tickets online for the activities I would like to do there, as listed below:

1. S.E.A. Aquarium - approx. PHP 1,073
2. Night Safari - SGD42.4 (approx. PHP 1,484)
3. Universal Studios - approx. PHP 2,432

If you're gonna travel to Singapore, make sure you have a copy of the MRT station and a map of Singapore. You may get them at the Changi airport. I got some maps but I usually used the MRT map in my phone. I also ensured that my expenses were completely monitored in my phone. I was holding my phone most of the time. I didn't feel scared of being robbed, well of course, because I am in Singapore. Also, you should also buy an MRT ticket exclusively for tourists. I think you will save a few bucks with that. I didn't buy one though 'coz whenever I'm about to buy, circumstances didn't permit me to do so.

Ok enough, Im'ma start my cool narration! 😎

Day 1 (May 13, 2017) - Airport, Arrival and Chinatown

The worst thing happened to me. I didn't go to sleep to avoid getting late for my 5:30 a.m. flight, but unfortunately, I got late! I was really sweaty all over, madapaka. Good thing there were 10 of us that got late and the airline management opted to give us a free (YEAH, FREE) rebooking. I thought I was gonna pay around PHP10,000+ because I was having a hard time explaining to the ticketing office that I will be rebooked for free. Again, madapaka.. 😆 Thank you to the guy who went hysterical because of what happened. If not because of you, the airline management wouldn't have decided to give us a free ride. Sooo, my plan of being at Singapore at around 12 noon ended up me arriving there at around 6:00 p.m. My "loner" itinerary got RUINED. Well, shit happens, but I'm still thankful. 😇

Here are a few pictures of the hotel and our room at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) tower 2.

great architecture

cute!

at the veranda
cool swirls. How do they clean that?

I asked my sister to go for a dinner at Chinatown.
~from Bayfront station to Chinatown station = SGD 1.5

I really wanted to try some meals at a hawker center. We ordered a singapore laksa (SGD 3.5), hainanese rice and sugarcane juice (SGD 1.5).

We went back to MBS and had a stroll at Gardens by the Bay.

The full moon added beauty to this picture.

Super Trees!

Marina Bay Sands

This is a giant floating baby in the garden.
view from the bridge at Gardens by the Bay

total expenses: PHP 1,866. This includes my expenses incurred for food and transportation (going to and staying at the airport at NAIA Terminal 3).

Day 2 (May 14, 2017) - S.E.A. Aquarium and Night Safari

My sister and I had our breakfast at Rasapura located at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. It is like a food court which is open 24/7. Cool, right? 😉 I ordered a nasi lemak (SGD 6) and a coffee w/ creamer (SGD 2.2). Just wanna share that my nickname sometimes is "Lemak" that's why I really wanted to try this food. 😋

I went first to Chinatown to have my US dollars changed. Currently, USD 1 is equivalent to SGD 1.37.
~from Bayfront station to Chinatown station = SGD 1.5

To get to Sentosa station, I rode from Chinatown station to Harbourfront Station (SGD 1.4). Sentosa Express is located at level 3 of VivoCity Mall. To get to Sentosa, ride the train from there. Ticket costs at SGD 4 (2-way trip).

with Vin Diesel :P
Here are some pictures of me at S.E.A. Aquarium.

"Sup, bruh?"
I really like how this fish looked at me. hahaha!

Before leaving Sentosa, I tried a rose syrup milk drink (SGD 2.2) because you won't see one in my hometown.

Our tour at the Night Safari starts at 8:15 p.m. so I had to leave early from Sentosa.
~train to Choa Chu Kang station from Harbourfront station = SGD 2.5
~ride bus 927 from Choa Chu Kang station to the Night Safari = SGD 2.0

I had to kill some time so I bought some dessert, a tiramisu (SGD 6.9), at Chang Chawang Bar. 😋

Dinner: fish curry briyani rice set (SGD 9.95).

At Night Safari, we had to ride a tram for the tour. It was a bit scary because the animals were not in a cage (which is good for them because they are not held captive) so it seemed like I can just reach them! But I didn't try to do so, I'm afraid. 😂
After the tram tour, we had to do the tour on foot. This should be done so that you will be able to get the whole picture of the Night Safari. It was very tiring and scary (because it was so dark) but totally worth the sweat. 😉

~city transfer shuttle ride from Night Safari to MBS = SGD 10.0 (It was a Mercedes Benz van that's why it is expensive. ugh.)

Day 3 (May 15, 2017) - Sands SkyPark Infinity Pool, Universal Studios and Super Trees Light show (Gardens by the Bay)

My brunch is a Singapore laksa (yeah, 2nd time 😆) (SGD 8.5). This one tasted better than my first laksa.

I visited the Sands SkyPark Infinity Pool at around 8:30 a.m. The view was really great! Good thing I was able to get a nice picture of myself. Thank you to the Indian woman who took my picture. 😁

~Bayfront station to Harbourfront station = SGD 1.7
~Harbourfront station to Sentosa = SGD 4.0

I arrived at Universal Studios at around 12 noon. If you want to fully enjoy the wonders of the park, you should be there at 10:00 a.m. (opening time) because the park closes at 7:00 p.m. It was raining all throughout the day so I had to buy a raincoat (SGD 5). I also needed it for my Jurassic Park ride so that I won't get soaking wet. I loved all of the rides! #kidatheart

I wish I have my very own truck of popcorn with unlimited supply of popcorn. haha

I couldn't understand it but I still used it all throughout my tour. I was too lazy to go back to the entrance. haha

After a very tiring tour, I went back to MBS to witness the beauty of the Supertrees light show! The theme that night was Garden Rhapsody - Star Wars edition.
~Harbourfront station to Chinatown station = SGD 1.7
~Chinatown to Bayfront station = SGD 1.5

Look at my shoes, they're shining.

We had dinner at Peach Garden. I love the taste of duck. 😋

Day 4 (May 16 to 17, 2017) - Merlion, shopping at Bugis, Sands SkyPark Observation Deck, Lau Pa Sat and DC Comics Superheroes Cafe

I ate a delicious simple breakfast at Rasapura again (SGD 4.9). I really loved the taste of the butter (a bit sweet) and the soupy eggs.

The iconic Merlion statue is located at 1 Fullerton Rd. I opted to ride the MRT than to walk for 20 minutes from MBS.
~Bayfront station to Raffles Place station = SGD 1.5

Lots of tourists were there to capture some selfies! 😅

Next stop is Bugis.
~Raffles Place station to Bugis station = SGD 1.5
They said this is the best place to buy pasalubong. I won't disclose how much I spent for pasalubong. 😂 I had to go change money for this. At that time, USD 1 is equivalent to 1.38 SGD.

Food:
1. Dragonfruit shake - SGD 2.0
2. Chicken BLT burger at McDonald's - SGD 5.0 (I really like the food menus of McDo at Singapore. They also have veggie meals!)

I went back to MBS to go to Sands SkyPark Observation deck. The view was exhilarating!
~Bugis station to Bayfront station = SGD 1.5

I wanted to visit Lau Pa Sat, a famous hawker place, so we rode a taxi to go there. We had satay (beef and chicken) and sugarcane with lemon juice for dinner.

Before my day ended, I tried a Batman coffee and Superman dessert at DC Comics Superheroes Cafe at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. This is the ONLY DC Comics cafe, so I really had to try it! Food there is really expensive for a mere coffee and dessert, but I found them tasting really good. I think it was worth it. 😊

Batman vs Superman. Nobody won, I devoured them both. hahaha 😎😋

My flight back to my homeland is scheduled at 1:30 a.m. I thought I might be late again because a problem happened at Terminal 2 (a fire broke out). But God is always saving me! Hallelujah!
~taxi to Changi airport terminal 2 = SGD 24 😢

If you're going to the airport, make sure you'll be there 3 hours before. If you're going to take the bus, you should take it 3 hours before. MRT station to Changi station is only up to 10:30 p,m., so it's better to ride one early! Too bad I don't know any of those so I had to take a cab. It was sooo expensive for a taxi ride. Anyways, f*ck it, I need to go home even if I badly don't want to. 😂
Hi there, my bag.

I didn't expect that I will be able to travel (mostly) alone. I'm also the type of person who usually gets lost, however, I didn't get lost in Singapore! 😁 I'm so proud of myself hahaha!
I was also able to try new food. Too bad I was not able to visit Clarke Quay and ride the Singapore Flyer (giant Ferris Wheel). I hope I can do so next time.

I was feeling sad 'coz it was my last day seeing this magnificent view.

so beautiful...

Bye, hallway. I will miss you so much.

I incurred expenses more than my budget, but I don't care anymore. The experience was TOTALLY WORTH IT. Words and pictures cannot tell everything that I've seen and felt. To sum it all up, this escapade was truly fulfilling and memorable. 😃
